Alleppey is one of the most important tourist centers in Kerala, with a large network of inland canals earning it the sobriquet 'Venice of the east'. These large network of canals provide Alleppey its lifeline. Alleppey was one of the busiest centers of trade in the past with one of the best known ports along the malabar coast.

The boat cruise along the backwaters of Alleppey give one first hand experience of the life style; toddy tapping, fishing for small fry, Coir-making, prawn farming etc., which remains more or less unchanged over the years.

With the Arabian Sea on the west and a vast network of lakes, lagoons and fresh water rivers crisscrossing it, Alappuzha is a district of immense natural beauty. Referred to as the Venice of the East by travelers from across the world, this backwater country is also home to diverse animal and bird life. By virtue of its proximity to the sea, the town has always enjoyed a unique place in the maritime history of Kerala.

Air
The Cochin International Airport is (2 hours) 85 kms and Trivandrum Airport is
(3 1/2 hours) 165 kms away from the Lake Palace Boat Jetty. From here, the exhilarating boat ride to the resort will take around 5 minutes.
Rail
The nearest rail head Alleppey is 4 kms from the Lake Palace Jetty.
Road
Alleppey is connected with NH 47 to Cochin (1 1/2 Hr) 64 kms and Trivandrum
(3 1/2 hours) 150 kms.
Water
Alleppey is connected by water with Cochin (5 1/2 Hr), Quilon (8 Hrs) and Kottayam (2 1/2 Hr).
